Governors
Welcome to William Stockton and Wimboldsley Federated Schools Governing Body
The Governors of William Stockton and Wimboldsley Federated Schools have the responsibility for education of the children in our schools. The Local Governing Body, whose membership includes the school's Headteachers, provides strategic leadership to the school and takes key decisions in areas such as finance, staffing structure and appointments and premises as well as monitoring educational performance.
Our members are drawn from parents, staff and the local community so that we bring a wide range of experiences and views to our debates. Although we are all volunteers we take our duties very seriously and consequently have a genuine impact upon the school and the education provided to William Stockton and Wimboldsley Federated Schools children. There are typically three Full Governing Body meetings per year. There are also several sub-committee meetings and members regularly attend training events.
Governors welcome enquiries from all sections of the community about membership. We always embrace people who are committed to the ethos of the school and who are willing to work with us to improve the quality of the leadership that we provide. Enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to learn and contribute are the most important qualities. We can be contacted through the school.
Positive feedback is always welcome (so we can repeat successful things more often) but we also want to learn about things we can improve. We can readily be contacted through the school. If the matter is sensitive then a sealed envelope can be forwarded to the Chair or Vice Chair via the school office.

Please meet the Governors of William Stockton and Wimboldsley Federated Schools
Name: Mrs M Hughes
Type of Governor: Chair of Governors
My name is Margaret Hughes, I am a retired head of a large Secondary School (The Whitby High School) which I took from Satisfactory in 2008 to Good with Outstanding features in 2011 - Ofsted commented: ‘The strength of the leadership provided by the Head teacher is a key element in the school’s improvement and the strong progress made since the last inspection’ and they mentioned: ‘strategies to eradicate weaknesses have been successful’. It is this direct experience of challenging underperformance that I bring to the Governing Body. I also have the experience of taking a school to Foundation status (2007) and then forming a Trust with a group of 6 Primary schools in 2010. This experience of moving to Charitable Status and working collaboratively with many groups of Governors and other Stakeholders will support the work of William Stockton and Wimboldsley.
