Equality Objectives
William Stockton Primary School is situated in Ellesmere Port. A higher than average proportion of pupils are in receipt of pupil premium (children eligible for free school meals within the last 6 years) within our school. At William Stockton, we recognise the need to celebrate and value the diversity of society as we prepare our children to contribute to life now and in the future.
Equality of opportunity for all our children and the staff, who work within our school community, is an essential principle. Every person matters at William Stockton and will be given every opportunity to succeed and reach their full potential.
We seek to ensure that our school respects the individuality of all pupils, employees, governors and visitors irrespective of ethnicity, religion, attainment, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation or background, thus upholding our commitment to provide a service which ensures equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination for all.
In order to further support pupils, raise standards and ensure inclusive teaching, we have set the following objectives (these objectives will be reviewed every 3 years):-
Objective 1 - To ensure that equality and diversity are embedded in our curriculum and reflected in our learning environments, curriculum planning and resources
Objective 2 - To narrow any gaps in attainment for pupils with additional needs, disadvantaged or with any protective characteristic
Obective 3 - To continue to develop and promote greater understanding and acceptance of the protective characteristics including LGBTQ
Objective 4 - To ensure that all pupils are given equal opportunities with regards to visits, residentials and after school/extra-curricular activities
Objective 5 - To ensure that all appointment panels give due regard to the equality information and objectives, so that no person is discriminated against when it comes to employment or training opportunities
Objective 6 -To ensure the learning environment is accessible to all pupils, staff and visitors
