PE

At William Stockton, to ‘get better at PE will mean that children learn to develop a wide range of fundamental skills, knowledge and understanding across a wide variety of sports and disciplines that will help equip them with skills for life.  We employ a sports' coaching company, VARA Sports, to support us in delivering high quality PE for all children.  VARA Sports also provide CPD for staff in school.

Mrs L. Richie

Mrs H. Doyle

I have been the PE subject lead at William Stockton for six years and I am motivated by my own interests in various sports. I particularly enjoy competitive sports and have a great passion for it. Mrs Doyle has recently joined our school as a ECT and has a background in sports and exercise science and coaching. Together, and with support from the rest of the staff in the school, we have designed our PE curriculum with our children at the heart.  We work closely alongside a specialist sports provider to ensure that our children are given the best opportunities across physical education.

We have been developing our PE curriculum for the past 18 months and we feel that it is now well planned and well sequenced.  A broad spectrum of the PE curriculum is delivered in order to accomodate and challenge pupils of all abilities; we adapt our teaching to suit the children's needs. We have agreed on clear end points that includes the core knowledge and skills that, we believe, the children need to achieve well in PE and to live a healthier lifestyle
